Reproductive Healthcare is a Human Right.

In Tanzania, nearly one woman dies every hour from birth-related complications. This alarming reality highlights the urgent need for improved maternal care in a country with one of the highest birth rates globally.

In our newest initiative, in partnership with Kupona Foundation, we are supporting women and children in the maternal wing in Tanzania, where many women face life-threatening risks due to a lack of access to quality healthcare. Reproductive healthcare is a human right, and every mother and newborn child deserves the care needed for a safe delivery.

One of the most heartbreaking consequences of inadequate maternal care is obstetric fistula, which affects over 3,000 women each year in Tanzania. This debilitating childbirth injury, caused by prolonged obstructed labor without timely access to emergency care, often leads to chronic incontinence and, in 90% of cases, the loss of the baby. The stigma surrounding obstetric fistula means many affected women are abandoned by their families and isolated from their communities, leaving them excluded and among the most vulnerable in society.

We are supporting efforts aimed at improving maternal and newborn healthcare in Tanzania by funding healthcare worker training, distributing lifesaving equipment, and upgrading labor wards and operating rooms in public healthcare facilities. These efforts are crucial to ensuring that mothers and their newborns receive quality care during pregnancy and delivery.

Join our collective effort—by contributing just a few dollars each month, your support can add up to lifesaving impact for mothers and newborns in need.
