Our Story
Hi friends, I’m Velina Velikova and I am the creator of
ACTUM Giving.
In college, volunteering at mobile clinics in TJ, Mexico, and organizing drives for San Diego’s homeless population became my passion. I saw extreme needs in low-income communities and the tireless organizations trying to help them.
There's a clear limit to how much an organization can do based on their funding. Some of the most dedicated and selfless groups are restricted because they lack resources for successful fundraising, limiting their reach. This means people they aim to serve continue to starve, suffer from malnourishment, or face homelessness.
I grew tired of seeing children struggle for daily meals or die from basic infections due to hygiene issues. Often, the difference between their survival and suffering is just a few hundred dollars. While this is only a bandaid for their root problems, it's a crucial first step toward progress.
It frustrates me that raising $1,000 is so easy with a simple Instagram fundraiser, yet many philanthropic fundraisers struggle. The nonprofit sector often lacks resources, particularly in marketing and fundraising, leading to inconsistent funding. After years of successful small-scale fundraising projects, I saw how impactful and easy it was for my community to donate $5 when called upon. If I simply expanded my social media marketing with a focus on getting donations, imagine the impact of our global community joining the mission.
Consider what happens if 1,000 people donated $1/month. That means over 250 kids fighting malnourishment could be fed over a year.
It sounds small, but it makes a big difference when many join our mission contribute. Let’s skip the sad marketing and feel empowered by what we can do. Meet Erik!
Ethical Medical Coordinator
As the medical coordinator of ACTUM Giving I collaborate with the founder, Velina, to organize fundraising initiatives. ACTUM Giving is a legal non-profit organization that uses social media and digital marketing to advocate and fundraise for communities worldwide.
I ensure our projects and funds are used appropriately, with cultural humility and awareness, to avoid imposing non-accepted practices on a community. Our latest project is raising $2362 to fund hygiene kits for women in Uganda, providing them with sanitary products to replace the banana leaves they currently use during their menstrual cycles. Our future goal is to create international aid clinics to provide healthcare worldwide.
