Reproductive Healthcare is a Human Right.
βIn Tanzania, approximately one woman dies every hour from preventable birth-related complications.
A prevalent and preventable consequence of inadequate maternal care is an obstetric fistula, affecting over 3,000 women annually in Tanzania. This condition often results from prolonged obstructed labor without timely emergency intervention, leading to chronic incontinence and, tragically, stillbirths in 90% of cases. The stigma surrounding fistula further isolates affected women, leaving them vulnerable and marginalized.β
In collaboration with The Kupona Foundation, our efforts focus on supporting maternal health initiatives in Tanzania. Each fistula repair surgery costs $2,100, covering transportation, the procedure, a two-week recovery stay with room and board, and participation in supportive activities . Beyond individual surgeries, we are committed to training healthcare workers, distributing essential medical equipment, and upgrading facilities to handle childbirth emergencies effectively. These comprehensive measures aim to restore dignity, save lives, and ensure that every woman in Tanzania has access to the care she deserves.β
