Basic Hygiene is a Human Right.
In Uganda, many young girls use banana leaves during their menstrual cycle, a practice that is not only inconvenient but unhygienic, leading them to miss school and work.
This lack of proper menstrual care is a form of systemic violence, further entrenching poverty by preventing young girls from accessing education and opportunities. Without hygienic menstrual products, these girls are also more susceptible to disease, exacerbating their vulnerability.
In partnership with All For One Austria (AFO), a volunteer organization based in Salzburg, we are working to provide essential hygiene kits to these young girls. A typical hygiene kit includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, pads, soap, sponge, nail cutter, two rolls of toilet paper, a 20L jerrican, and a large basket for washing clothes, dishes, and children. These kits cost 20 Euros ($21.62).
By partnering with AFO, we not only provide financial support for these kits, but also advocate for the essential need for menstrual hygiene products. Your support can help break the cycle of poverty by ensuring these young girls have the tools they need to stay healthy, attend school, and build a brighter future.
